The three roughly-equivalent groups of U.S. “golfers”
There are almost 37 million golfers over the age of 5 in the U.S. when totaling both on- and off-course participants. Those consumers who only play traditional, green grass golf still comprise the biggest group, but the number of off-course only participants has almost drawn even. There's also another sizeable group -- just in between the other two -- of people who have played both on- and off-course golf. Note: off-course golf includes golf entertainment venues (Topgolf, Drive Shack, etc.), standalone driving ranges, and/or the hundreds of businesses that now have simulators and screen golf setups.
