September 2024 National Rounds Played
The national gain in year-over-year U.S. play for September 2024 was the largest in six months, as sustained rounds volume in the Northeast and Midwest more than offset the impacts of hurricane season in the Southeast.
September rounds were up 3.6% compared to a year ago, strong shoulder-season momentum after play remained largely flat during the spring and summer peak months.
- April 2024: +0.8%
- May 2024: -0.8%
- June 2024: +1.2%
- July 2024: -1.4%
- August 2024: +1.9%
Entering October, year-to-date play is almost 2% ahead of 2023’s pace, when a record number of rounds were played at U.S. facilities nationwide.
While precipitation was up substantially and rounds understandably down in the South Atlantic and South Central regions (more on the impact of hurricane season in this Short Game piece), play was up in the other six geographic regions.
New Jersey saw the most notable September play gains, up 31% YOY, with neighboring Pennsylvania at +19%. And while the Mid Atlantic region was up 16% in total, the six states in New England saw an even larger collective jump in September rounds at almost +19%.
