Greg Nathan, CEO of the National Golf Foundation, the leading authority on the state of the game and the industry’s most trusted provider of research, consulting and marketing insights, has been selected as one of Golf Inc.’s Most Powerful People in Golf. Nathan, who became CEO on January 1, 2024, is one of two new faces highlighted in the list of influential leaders.
“To be recognized in Golf Inc.’s list of the Most Powerful People in Golf is an honor that reflects how highly the game’s decision-makers value the NGF,” said Nathan. “I’m so fortunate to work regularly with leaders across every segment of the golf business, and the authenticity of the game is the fabric that ties us all together. We share a common goal to positively impact the game’s future and shape it in a way that will leave it in better hands for the next generation. It is truly an honor to be recognized alongside them.”
The annual list of Golf Inc.’s Most Powerful People in Golf, published in the 2024 November/December issue, highlights a group of executives and leaders from management companies, equipment manufacturers, and industry organizations, as well as developers, architects, and players who shape the future of golf at every level. Beyond Nathan, NBC Sports Next President Will McIntosh is the only other newcomer to join the Top 25 game-changers.
“The sport has a rich history, iconic courses, and legions of devoted players and fans. But behind the scenes, there is a select group of individuals whose decisions shape the future of golf at every level,” said Golf Inc. “These powerful figures range from players who redefine competition to executives who lead the biggest organizations, sponsors who drive the financial engine of the sport, and innovators who push technology and sustainability forward. Together, they make up the 25 Most Powerful People in golf today.”
Nathan joined the NGF in 2007 as Vice President following seven years with GOLF Magazine/GOLF.com, preceded by various positions in the N.Y. advertising business. After ascending to the role of Chief Business Officer, and then President and Chief Operating Officer, he assumed the CEO role in 2024 as long-time chief Joe Beditz took on the role of Executive Chairman.
During his 18-year NGF tenure, Nathan has worked with virtually every type of golf business, helping them with strategic insights supported by data, deep category knowledge, and by connecting people within his unparalleled network. In addition to overseeing the NGF’s best-in-class direct-to-consumer and business-to-facility products and services, Nathan recently spearheaded the creation of NGF’s digital marketing agency to further benefit the organization’s members and clients.
