Approximately 25% of U.S. golf facilities are private, with the other three quarters open to public play. These 10 states have the highest proportion of private clubs to public facilities, with New Jersey -- the most densely populated state in the nation -- atop the list. Almost half of the golf facilities in the Garden State, from Baltusrol to Pine Valley, are member-only private clubs.
