Golf’s 2020 Re-Opening
When the coronavirus hit the U.S. in 2020, golf was among the many industries affected. More than half of the nation's 14,000+ facilities were required to suspend golf operations for most of April. NGF spent more than three months tracking the operational status of golf facilities nationwide, conducting thousands of weekly verifications from late March until early June. The graphic on the right details how openings progressed over that period, prompting golfers to flock to courses despite the lingering uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.
