Rounds of golf for June 2023 were up 5.5% compared to a year ago, the third straight month there’s been a notable gain in U.S. play.

Through the first half of the year, total rounds are also up 5.5% compared to the same stretch in 2022.

Dating back to 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic first had a major impact on the U.S. golf industry, June is the only peak season month that has yet to see a year-over-year decline in play at any time.

  • June 2020 (+13.9%)
  • June 2021 (+0.4%)
  • June 2022 (+2.7%)
  • June 2023 (+5.5%)

June is typically one of the three-highest volume months annually and play this year was up 2% YOY or more in 31 states. Notable gainers among golf-rich states included Washington (+13%), Arizona (+12%), Illinois, Michigan and Ohio (all +9%), Minnesota (+8%), and New York and New Jersey (+6%).

The June lift followed national play gains in April (+7.8%) and May (+10%).
