August 2024 National Rounds Played
August rounds follow regional precipitation changes as summer play finishes strong
Posted: September 28, 2024

August 2024 play was up 2% year-over-year on a national level, as rounds remained relatively stable through the end of the peak summer months.

Overall, year-to-date play remains 1.4% ahead of 2023’s record pace.

August rounds were up YoY in six of the eight geographic regions tracked, with the biggest gains in the South Central and Pacific regions. In the South Central, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana,  Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas were all up at least 4%, while California, Oregon and Washington all saw August play gains of at least 3% out West, where Hawaii rounds jumped by 17%

The only down regions in August both have an abundance of golf-rich states: the Mid-Atlantic (-3.5%) with New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and South Atlantic (-2.6%) with Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Those two regions, incidentally, were the only of the eight in which August precipitation was up compared to the same time a year ago.
