April rounds played were relatively unchanged from a year ago, with a swath of minor year-over-year dips across the Northeast and Midwest states.
On a national level, rounds were up about 1% in April.
Based on complete data through the first four months of 2024, U.S. rounds of golf are running about 4% ahead of last year’s record pace.
Play was up (or down) in four of the eight geographic regions included in the monthly rounds report, with the nost significant gains in the less-populated West North Central (+12%) and Mountain (+9%) regions, and the biggest YOY drops in New England (-14%) and the Mid Atlantic (-10%). The latter is home to the golf-rich and still seasonal-in-spring states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, all of which experienced higher than average precipitation levels in April.
