February National Rounds Played Report 2018

February rounds-played were down 8.5% across the U.S., bringing the national, year-to-date total to -7.2% compared to a year ago.

Much of the country was still in the off-season in February, facing cooler temperatures and greater precipitation than the same period in 2017.

There was significantly higher precipitation for the month in the South Central and South Atlantic regions — areas that typically drive many of the rounds-played early in the year. As a result, rounds were down in those regions, which are home to states such as Florida, North and South Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama and Texas (see map above).

Similar to January, February accounts for only about 3% of annual rounds, thus there is plenty of opportunity to make up ground.

If rounds in the Pacific region are any indication of demand under better weather conditions, then future increases are likely.  Rounds in the Pacific region increased for the third consecutive month and, through February, were up over 25% year-to-date.
