NGF Research Snapshot: Fantasy Golf
Almost eight million Americans participated in a fantasy golf pool or league in 2018, according to findings from the NGF’s Participation and Engagement Study.
While golfers are about three times as likely than non-golfers to participate in these kinds of weekly or season-long competitions, non-golfers far outnumber golfers (about 1.5 million to 6.3 million) due to the sheer size of the non-golfing population.
Participation in fantasy golf, in which competitors pick an individual golfer or a lineup of golfers similar to fantasy football, has seen an upward trend and will likely see additional growth with the legalization of gambling on professional golf in many states.
